Spellonyms as linguo-cultural onomastic units in indigenous folklore

The undertaken research replenishes the pool of knowledge about folklore texts and functions spellonyms as signs saturated with national cultural meanings. study establishes compares linguistic characteristics in onomasticon Australian Nanaian aetiological tales. authors proposed a typology which includes 5 thematic groups: nominations deities different nature; celestial bodies transformed from representatives tribe; objects worship magical rituals; natural phenomena; creatures. results demonstrate significant prevalence number deity among spellonyms, while majority refer to artefacts. has also proved utmost significance water element folk worldview Aborigines equivalent importance water, land air elements Nanai worldview. obvious preference both traditions is given native origin transcribed into language translation. structural types vary group group, monolexemic nominations.
